Quincy Jointz

MuseAmp got to pass some questions by Quincy Jointz, one of Germany's hottest rising DJs.  He gives us an update on what's happening in the mix and on the town. Check out his latest on his MySpace page.

MuseAmp: What are you currently working on right now?

Jointz: I'm working on my first compilation called "Lime Sorbet" – like the name of the weekly “Lime Sorbet Show” which I host weekly for Citrona Rec. It will contain fresh and unreleased tracks and remixes by ace-producers worldwide. To name a few: Ancient Astronauts, Badboe, Basement Freaks, Shantisan, Jazz K.Lipa; Bandura and myself.

Also working on new remixes for Thomas Blondet, Ed Royal, Kid Stretch
and started to work on an upcoming EP for Innvision Rec. with MC Fava.

Remixes of my album "Praia de Geriba" will be released on Timewarp music soon.

And also will start a new DJ-residency in my hometown Freiburg in January.

MuseAmp: What are you spinning?

Jointz: NuFunk, Deep Funk, Drum´n´Bass, Reggae

02. ldo Vanucci / Tonight

MuseAmp: Favorite artists right now, what are you spinning?

Jointz: Quantic, FDEL, Fort Knox Five, Basement Freaks, All Good Funk Alliance, Thievery Corperation

MuseAmp: Any more live DJ shows planned in the near future?

Jointz:

Dec 04th @ Goldclub / Essen, Germany
Jan. 18th @ tageins, Waldsee Freiburg, Germany
Jan. 22nd @ fresh & funky, Waldsee Freiburg, Germany
Febr. 6th @  Groovestation, Dresden, Germany
Febr. 26th @ fresh & funky, Waldsee Freiburg, Germany
March 19th @ fresh & funky, Waldsee Freiburg, Germany
April 30th @ fresh & funky, Waldsee Freiburg, Germany
Gigs in Spain are planned for March/April 2010

MuseAmp: What is your home studio setup like?

Jointz: I'm working with a Lenovo Laptop, Cubase SX 3, different vst-plugins, Korg Workstation.

MuseAmp: Do you see Indie electronic releases using more unconventional and online methods to release new material? Is it working for you?

Jointz: I'm releasing mp3s most of the time. I'm working with good labels, so I'm happy with it.

But producing music is getting only a promotion-tool nowadays. I'm not really happy with it. Nobody can live from mp3-sales at all. And many labels are offering music in bad quality (songs and sound).
